Achievements
In 2010, the project team has been awarded the Second Class Technology Progress Award in “Ultra-precision Machining Technology of Free-Form Optics and its Applications” from the Ministry of Education of China.
In 2011, the project team has been awarded the Second Class Natural Science Award in “Research on Modelling and Characterization of Nano-surface Generation in Ultra-precision Diamond Turning” from the Ministry of Education of China.
In 2011, the project team has also been awarded the Joseph Whitworth Prize for the paper “Analysis of surface generation in the ultra-precision polishing of freeform surfaces” from the Manufacturing Industries Division of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.
